David Sereda

Whether a cappella, solo at the piano, or with his stellar ensemble, DAVID SEREDA blends folk, gospel, soul and pop with a theatrical flair. He hits emotional bulls-eyes then turns on a dime with a laugh-out-loud lyric.
A concert by David is an emotional journey. Says the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, “David Sereda’s range as a singer-songwriter is breathtaking.” His adventurous music reflects his artistic curiousity. David is a sought-after collaborator on new productions in music and theatre across Canada, whether as a singer, songwriter, actor, pianist, composer, educator or producer.
As well as the concert stage, he’s worked in theatre from coast to coast in Canada, with shows at Buddies in Bad Times, Ship’s Co. Theatre (Parrsboro, NS), The Belfry (Victoria, BC), the National ArtsCentre (Ottawa) and Tarragon, where he co-wrote the musicals Love Jive! (Dora nomination) and Siren Song with playwright and novelist Don Hannah. As Associate Artist with Sheatre, an award-winning community arts company, he collaborated with director Joan Chandler onTOM, a musical based on Tom Thomson’s life and art.
David’s first release, Chivalry Lives, was notable not only because five of the songs were a cappella, but that he wrote from the perspective of a gay man: a rare thing in 1981 and today.
He has released three recordings on his indie label, Rocky Wednesday Records (his critically acclaimed CD the blue guide is available on CDBaby and iTunes). Born in Edmonton, Alberta, he now makes his home in St. Catharines, ON.
